Let’s be honest: water and electricity are a nightmare pairing. In a loud, wet industrial shop, moisture is basically a heat-killer. Whether it’s a stray splash of water or a thick blanket of fog, it finds a way in. Once it hits those electrical terminals, you get a short circuit or rapid rust, and suddenly your heater is a very expensive paperweight. That’s exactly why we built our heaters with an IP65 rating.
What does “IP65” actually do for you?
In plain English, it means the unit is tight. Dust can’t get in, and if you hit it with a water jet from any angle, it won’t blink. We don’t just slap a cover on it. We use high-temp silicone gaskets to seal the junction box and heavy-duty compression glands where the cables enter. It stops moisture from sneaking into the wiring—which is usually where these things start to fail. But fog is a sneakier problem. When a heater cycles on and off, the temperature swings create condensation inside the housing. It’s like a tiny rainstorm happening inside your equipment. To stop that “invisible” water from eating away at the contacts, we coat the internal circuitry in a specialized moisture barrier.
The tricky part: Heat vs. Water
Here is the catch: if you seal a heater too tightly to keep the water out, you risk cooking the electronics. You can’t just wrap it in plastic and hope for the best. To solve this, we use an extruded aluminum housing. Think of it as a giant heat sink. It pulls the heat away from the internal guts while keeping the waterproof seal intact. Just a heads-up: make sure your mounting bracket leaves a bit of breathing room around the chassis. A little airflow goes a long way in keeping things cool.
